BBC Frozen Planet II- Kea

This was one of my all time favourite projects. I was asked to be the Line Director on this BBC shoot for Frozen Planet II. We were a crew of three - Mountain Guide, Cinematographer and myself all living in Chancellor’s Hut bolted into a rocky outcrop high above Fox Glacier in the dead of winter for 3 weeks. No reception. No heating. No insulation. I’ve never been so cold in my life, but it was worth it. Spending 3 weeks filming Kea was incredible. They are clever, curious, funny and wild. I utterly fell in love with these carnivorous parrots that live in the snow! Some of my BTS photos were published in the Frozen Planet II coffee book.
